Bootle FC Women return to league action this afternoon after a 42-day break, making the trip to face Hesketh Colts at a familiar venue, Fleetwood Hesketh.
The Bucks come into this fixture full of confidence following a thrilling 5–3 victory over Sefton Park Rangers in the LWYFL Open Age Cup two weeks ago at The Berry Street Garage Stadium. Standout performances from Caitlyn Rogers and Poppie O’Neill proved decisive, with O’Neill netting a hat-trick and Rogers also getting on the scoresheet in an impressive attacking display.
Today’s hosts, Hesketh Colts, currently sit bottom of the LWYFL table on six points, just four behind Bootle, who are looking to create further distance from the relegation zone. The Colts suffered a heavy 6–0 defeat at home to Vauxhall Motors last weekend, but showed their attacking threat the week prior with an emphatic 5–1 win over St Helens Rovers, led by goals from Macy Rimmer, Tegan Rothlisberger and a hat-trick from Jessica Hassall.
The reverse fixture between the sides in November ended in a frustrating 2–2 draw for Bootle. Despite goals from Alice Whorton and Millie Davies turning the game around, a late equaliser from Elisabeth Parkinson saw the points shared at The Berry Street Garage Stadium.
With both sides eager for valuable points, Bootle will be aiming to build on their recent cup success and deliver a strong performance on their return to league action.
