Bootle came up short in North Wales as Colwyn Bay’s Jordan Davies scored directly from a corner, which would be the only goal of the game.

In the opening two minutes of the game, Ryan Beigan found himself in a promising position to cut in and take a shot on goal but the effort flew a fair distance over the crossbar. A Colwyn Bay throw in made it’s way into the Bootle area to the head of Louis Robles but it ended up being an easy catch for Joe Mason.

Ryan Beigan was once again in an optimistic range for a shot on goal and aimed towards the far corner but it fizzled wide without forcing the keeper to make a save. As Colwyn Bay were slowly picking up momentum, Adam Davies took a shot on goal which was tremendously saved by Joe Mason to keep the game level. The first half ended 0-0 with neither side proving to be better than the other.

Early in the second half, a ball from out wide was delivered into the Bootle box which was cleared by a Matty Fenton header which brushed past his own goal by a yard, Colwyn Bay’s Jordan Davies took the corner which curled straight into the Bootle net to give the hosts a 1-0 lead by way of a freak goal. Bootle began hunting for an equaliser and a chance came our way as a corner found Matty Fenton who took a shot on goal but his effort only dipped over the crossbar.

After a rebounded shot landed in his path, Matty Hill struck the ball first time which almost snapped the far post in half, a massive opportunity missed for Colwyn Bay to double their lead. In the later stages of the game Bootle made attempts towards goal but each one resulted with no end product which lead to the final score being 1-0 to Colwyn Bay.
