Bootle do enough to earn a point on the opening day of their 2026/27 after being 1-0 down after sixty two minutes but managed to equalise shortly afterwards thanks to a goal from Abi Barrow.

The first major chance of the game fell to Bootle as a corner was whipped into the Litherland Remyca area and an unmarked Tasha Kearney was there to meet it with a header but the ball went just over, a close chance early doors for Bootle. Ten minutes later, the hosts went through one on one towards goal but somehow put their effort wide after looking so favourable to break the deadlock, a huge let off for Bootle.

Litherland Remyca once again almost took the lead as Izzy Cartwright was forced to parry away a shot at the near post which she did very well to get down to. Alice Whorton managed to get on the end of a fantastic dinked ball in the Bootle area and had a great chance to put Bootle 1-0 up before the break but her effort was scuffed wide.

Just eight minutes into the second half, the hosts took the lead as an unmarked Litherland Remyca shirt capitalised on the opportunity and took it with both hands to put her side 1-0 up early in the second half. After chances from Jess Ross and Millie Davis, Bootle eventuality equalise in the seventy eighth minute as Abi Barrow met a brilliant delivery into the box with a first time effort to get Bootle level.

Both teams had chances in the very late stages of the game to snatch a winner including one on one chances for each side but neither prevailed and a point was shared between the two as a result. Both sides might feel that they both should’ve walked away with a win but with all things considered, it would be fair to say a draw was a fair result.
