Bootle Put Five Past Mossley

By Brendan Doyle

Despite Bootle’s positive start it was Mossley who had the first real chance of the game as Jack Marrow struck the ball with the outside of his foot on a half volley but the ball sailed wide. After Jack McGowan was forced to exit the field due to an ankle injury, substitute Courtney Duffus almost instantly made an impact after his headed attempt ended up in the back of the net to give Bootle the lead.

Just four minutes later Courtney Duffus again found the back of the net after meeting a clearance from a Mossley defender with a first time effort which flew into the net going through keeper Fin Madigan’s legs to give Bootle a 2-0 lead. Isaac Graham struck a free kick from close range which bounced off the wall to allowed Oumar Camara to stick his foot out to the ball and get Mossley a goal back just a few minutes before half time.

After a goalkeeping error from Fin Madigan, Ste Edmonson capitalised on it and struck the ball first time from thirty yards out to give Bootle a 3-1 lead. After Lewis Earl played a brilliant pass out wide, Courtney Duffus received the ball and drove from the centre cutting inside and smashed the ball into the bottom far corner to claim his hat trick, great work from the big man to make it 4-1 to Bootle.

As Bootle seemed to have the game wrapped up in the later stages, Ste Edmundson put his own touch of brilliance on it as he flicked the ball over a defender’s head and chipped the keeper from just outside the box, it’s safe to say this has more than likely already won goal of the season, Ste Edmundson take a bow! The match finished 5-1 to Bootle as it now marks two consecutive wins for The Bucks.
