Bootle’s undefeated run ends as they’re hit with a 4-1 loss to MSB Woolton Reserves.

MSB Woolton took the lead in the thirteenth minute of the game by way of a shot outside the box which flew into right side of the goal. Only two minutes later, MSB Woolton double their lead after winning a free kick from around thirty yards out and it was hit into far top corner, a fantastic free kick in all fairness.

Things went from bad to worse for Bootle as another effort from outside the area from the MSB Woolton number ten found it’s way into the back of the net, which completed her hat trick. The first half finished 3-0 to MSB Woolton with Bootle not troubling them much.

After two minutes of play resuming for the second half, Bootle were awarded a penalty which Alice Wharton took and was saved by former Bootle keeper Rhegan Hough, a huge moment for her on her return to The Berry Street Garage Stadium. After chasing an equaliser for over twenty minutes, Bootle finally got one in the seventieth minute as Katie Losh hit her effort in the top near corner and gave Bootle a glimmer of hope.

In the closing stages of the game any chance for Bootle getting closer to an equaliser as MSB Woolton managed to score a fourth goal as their whipped in corner found an unmarked player in the box and ended up in the back of the net. The match would finish 4-1 to MSB Woolton Reserves which would be Bootle’s first loss at home this season.
