Match Report: Bootle FC 5-0 Emley AFC

Bootle smash Northern Premier League Premier Division side Emley 5-0 to advance to the first round proper of the FA trophy.
In the opening twenty two minutes Bootle were on the front foot and the more dominant side which eventually paid off as Ben Hodkinson latched onto a flicked ball and poked it past Emley keeper Ben Bottomley to give Bootle the lead. Just three minutes later Matty Fenton launched a throw in into the Emley area which found Sam Hughes whose header went past the keeper to double Bootle’s lead.
Ryan Beigan had a great chance to make it 3-0 for Bootle as he managed to get on the end of a through ball into the Emley area and was through on goal despite a defender being right to him and he got a shot away but the effort was scuffed wide. Emley very nearly pulled one back just a minute before the half time whistle as Diego De Girolamo hit a ball on the volley but it clipped the post and came back out to Joe Mason who caught the ball safely.
After only two minutes of play into the second half a set piece was floated into towards Declan Daniels who’s squared header reached Matty Fenton who also got his header to it to make it 3-0 to Bootle. Alex Kiwomya hit a first time effort just inside the Bootle area in an attempt to pull one back for Emley but Joe Mason made an outstanding save to deny the visitors a goal.
The game went a little quiet up until the eightieth minute when Ben Hodkinson made it 4-0 after burying his effort past Ben Bottomley, and in the last minute of the game substitute Saul Fox Akande got his head to a squared headed ball to get his first goal for the club. The full time result seen Bootle defeat Emley 5-0 and advance to the first round proper of the FA Trophy.
