Eight Is Great For The Bucks
By Brendan Doyle
A 2-0 victory at the Berry Street Garage Stadium over Nantwich Town with goals from Jack McGowan and Ben Hodkinson means The Bucks make it eight wins in eight league games.
On the fifteenth minute mark Ben Hodkinson went past full back Joshua McWilliams and tried his luck from a tight angle but it was straight at Nantwich Town keeper Sam Booth. Nantwich Town’s Will Smith took a shot towards the near post which had some power behind it but Bootle’s number one Joe Mason was there to parry away the effort.
Just after half an hour of play, Ben Hodkinson found Jack McGowan in space and McGowan’s effort flew past Sam Booth to brake the deadlock for Bootle with the first major chance of the game. A brilliant ball from Nantwich Town towards the back post found Bruno Cina who’s first time effort clipped the bar from close range and went out for a goal kick, a huge missed opportunity for the visitors, the first half ended 1-0 to The Bucks in a closely contested first half.
Substitute Declan Daniels found himself one on one after receiving a through ball and got his shot away but it was tremendously saved by Sam Booth, a huge opportunity missed by Bootle to double the lead. Nantwich Town were seemingly level after a ball into the box was met with a finish but the linesman’s flag was up for offside.
In the seventy seventh minute Joshua McWilliams received his second yellow card of the game and was given his marching orders as the visitors found themselves down to ten men for the remainder of the game. A typical Matty Fenton throw in was launched into the Nantwich Town area which Lewis Doyle flicked on towards the back post which resulted in a Ben Hodkinson header to give Bootle a 2-0 goal in front of the Dodge Kop.
The match resulted in a 2-0 for The Bucks to maintain a 100% win record in the Northern Premier League Division One West.
