After just thirteen minutes and with their first real attempt on goal, the hosts took the lead after Joey Butlin laid off Sam Wilding who was unmarked in the area and buried his effort. After not much happening in the game with chances for neither side falling, Chasetown doubled their lead as Jack Langston was laid off by once again Joey Butlin and ceased his opportunity.
Jack Langston once again almost got his name on the scoresheet as the ball fell to his path outside the area on the volley which looked like it was going to fly in but the ball was just inches wide, a huge sigh of relief for Bootle. The first half would end 2-0 to Chasetown and despite two goals in the encounter, there really wasn’t much happening and the half wasn’t entertaining to say the least.
The first real chance of the second half came by way of a Lewis Earl free kick which looked very promising but the effort dipped just wide of the post. A minute later Jack Langston got his second of the game as a ball found the Chasetown number 8 unmarked at the back post when he met the delivery with a well hit volley to make it 3-0 to Chasetown.
Just five minutes later things got worse for Bootle as Tye Webster made it 4-0 to Chasetown as his low driven effort found the far corner of the Bootle net beating Tony Thompson. Dior Angus made a run into the Chasetown Box with the ball and seemed to be tripped in the area but the referee booked Angus for diving and therefore a penalty wasn’t awarded.
Substitute Mitch Clarke grabbed a fifth goal for Chasetown with a bullet header from a corner, a very well met strike from a brilliantly executed set piece. To put the final nail in Bootle’s coffin for the afternoon, Jack Langston managed to claim his hat trick as the ball was played to him on the turn and he converted his chance past Tony Thompson.
The match would finish 6-0 to Chasetown in what was a hugely embarrassing defeat for The Bucks, huge improvements needed for the next game against Bury at home on November 8th at The Berry Street Garage Stadium.
