Bootle pick up a 3-0 win with the help of fierce windy conditions against Darlaston Town as the push for play offs continues.
The visiting Darlaston Town made a good start to the game but never really tested Bootle keeper Tony Thompson, nonetheless Bootle quickly warmed into the game as Ste Edmondson took a shot on goal but Darlaston Town keeper Tom Beeby got a hand to it. Three minutes later however, Ste Edmondson made up for his missed effort as he received a through ball and buried his chance in the far corner to give Bootle the lead.
A few short minutes later Bootle were awarded a corner which Jay Roberts stepped up to take and a big gust of wind helped swing the ball into the far corner of the Darlaston Town goal to double Bootle’s lead. The strong wind once again helped Bootle get another goal as Ben Hodkinson received a long ball over the top which allowed him to twist and turn from close range to sit the keeper down and put Bootle 3-0 up.
The second half didn’t see much action due to the impact of the strong winds which had entered Merseyside that afternoon but the only major chance was a header from a Darlaston Town forward from close range be tipped onto the bar by Tony Thompson and then be cleared away, the match finished 3-0 to Bootle. Bootle currently sit five points away from play offs due to Vauxhall Motors and Lower Breck dropping points.
At 3pm on the Easter bank holiday Monday Bootle travel to The APEC Taxis Stadium to take on fourth placed Runcorn Linnets as we continue our push for play offs. Tickets for adults are £11, aged 65 and over £8 and aged 18 and under are £2. Food and drinks are available at the ground.
