Bootle defeat Stalybridge Celtic 2-0 at the Berry Street Garage Stadium to extend our run to nine wins in a possible nine league games thanks to goals from Ste Edmondson and Lewis Doyle with Declan Daniels proving an assist for both finishes.

In the opening eight minutes of the game Bootle took the lead after Declan Daniels played a great ball into the path of Ste Edmondson who beat Stalybridge Celtic centre half Jack Kenny in a foot race to the ball and wasted no time to bury his effort giving Bootle a nice early 1-0 lead. Ste Edmondson almost doubled Bootle’s lead not long after, but intentionally as his cross into the box hit the crossbar and after a couple of close range blocks from Stalybridge Celtic, the ball fell to Ste Edmondson for a rebound but his shot was way over.

Ste Edmondson once again had a chance to double Bootle’s lead after Lewis Doyle played a wonderful ball over the top which Edmondson got on the end of and had plenty of room to shoot towards goal but opted to square it across the goal but the pass failed to find a Bootle shirt. Yet another chance fell to Ste Edmondson has a ball came in from Jack Lenehan which found the head of Ste Edmondson but the header was blocked from close range by a Stalybridge Celtic shirt, the first half ended 1-0 to Bootle.

Stalybridge Celtic flew out of the traps very early on as Jack Irlam pounced on a defensive error from Bootle and took a shot towards goal but it was straight at Joe Mason to keep the score at 1-0, just four minutes later, Bootle did eventually get a second goal as Lewis Doyle brilliantly knocked a first time pass to Declan Daniels who then found Doyle making a forward run to pick him out and after taking a couple of touches, his shot flew past Stalybridge Celtic keeper Charlie Monks to make it 2-0 to Bootle from a brilliant counter attack.

Jack Lenehan attempted to get a third goal for Bootle after receiving the ball from a fair distance but shooting range for himself and let one fly but it bounced a couple of yards wide of the Stalybridge Celtic net, a close one for Lenehan. There was very little action after Bootle’s second goal up until very late in the game was a Stalybridge Celtic throw in managed to reach Fortune Maphosa who leaped up for the header but the effort only went over the bar, the match finished 2-0 to The Bucks which seen them win a ninth consecutive game in a possible nine games, the 100% win record is maintained.
