Match Preview: Silsden (H)

The Bucks open September 2025 with a replay in the FA Cup against Silsden AFC after our game in West Yorkshire on Saturday ended in a goalless 0-0 draw.

After a draw on Saturday against Silsden, The Bucks have another chance at qualifying for the next round of the FA Cup, both sides had their chances on Saturday but neither could decide a winner. The last time Bootle played here at The Berry Street Garage Stadium the game ended in a 3–1 defeat to local rivals Lower Breck but Alan Morgan will want to put it right and get back to winning ways on home soil.

Despite Silsden walking away from a goalless draw, they themselves have another opportunity at making history for their club by advancing to the second qualifying round of the FA Cup on the first occasion in the club’s entire 121 year history. Saturday’s draw at The Regal Interiors Stadium also means The Cobbydalers extend their unbeaten run of games from five to six, gaffer Matt Cavanagh will be hoping to push that run to seven on Merseyside.

Key Player:

Kayle Price got 21 goals in 35 starts to his name by the end of the 2024/25 campaign proving to be a huge figure in Silsden’s journey to promotion in April. So far in the new campaign Price has scored 5 goals in all competitions and is looking like he’s starting where he left off from last season which will surely put other teams in the division on high alert.

The Boss:

Matt Cavanagh joined the club in the summer of 2022 as joint manager alongside other joint manager Luke Avery at the time. Cavanagh guided Silsden to promotion to the Northern Premier League Division One East in the 2024/25 season.
