The Bootle girls pick up an astonishing 11-3 at the Berry Street Garage Stadium thanks to five goals from Darcey Taylor, a brace from both Abi Barrow and Jess Ross, and a goal each for Alice Gannon and Tasha Kearney to help Bootle rise to the top of the LWYFL Division Two.

Tasha Kearney met a corner with a bullet header in the opening five minutes to give Bootle an early lead, only a few short minutes later Darcey Taylor met a great pass with a brilliant first touch and managed to round the keeper and get a second goal for Bootle, a dominant start for The Bucks.

Although on top by two goals, the visitors made a very quick turn around by scoring three goals in the space of just six minutes, flipping the game on it’s head completely. Although Alex Garbe’s side responded extremely well as goals from Darcey Taylor, Abi Barrow and Jess Ross managed to get Bootle ahead before half time with them leading 6-3.

In the fifty sixth minute Abi Barrow’s wonderful dinked ball landed in the path of Darcey Taylor as she went through on goal and managed to get a seventh goal for Bootle, minutes later, Jess Ross stepped up to take a free kick from shooting distance but it bounced just wide, although not long after it she stepped up to take another free kick from a similar angle but at a shorter distance from goal and this time successfully converted the set piece to get Bootle’s eight of the game.

A further two goals from Darcey Taylor and one from Alice Gannon would see the match end 11-3 to Bootle in what was some turnaround after dropping a two goal lead to see themselves 3-2 down in the first half but it’s safe to say that the girls turned their luck around miraculously and as a result finished the game off with eleven goals to their name and ended up top of the table as their very good start of their 2026/27 campaign continues.
