The Bucks return to action this Sunday at The Berry Street Garage Stadium after a frustrating run of postponements, as they welcome a strong Vulcan UDA side in an important league clash. With both teams battling for crucial points at opposite ends of the table, the stage is set for an exciting afternoon of football.
Vulcan arrive looking to keep the pressure on league leaders Vauxhall Motors Women as they continue their push near the top of the table, while Bootle will be aiming to build momentum and move out of the relegation zone with a valuable three points on home soil.
Bootle head into the fixture full of confidence following an impressive 4-0 victory over St Helens Rovers Women under the lights last time out. After a dominant start, Abbi Fowler opened the scoring before adding her second early in the second half from a superb long pass by Poppie O’Neill. O’Neill later added her own goal following excellent attacking play, before Maia Buckle wrapped up the win late on. It was a confident and organised display from The Bucks, who impressed both going forward and defensively throughout the contest.
The reverse fixture earlier this season at Vulcan Sports Club proved to be a difficult afternoon for Bootle despite a determined defensive performance for much of the game. Goalkeeper Darcey Beckett produced a number of outstanding saves to keep the score at 1-0 for over 70 minutes, but Vulcan eventually extended their lead through Sawyer Burchill before substitute Faye Butler scored twice late on to secure a 4-0 victory.
With both sides desperate for points for very different reasons, Sunday’s encounter promises to be a competitive and entertaining battle at The Berry Street Garage Stadium.
