The first chance of the game came by way of a Sam Hughes effort outside the box but the shot was dragged wide, minutes later former Bootle player Mason Fawnes almost put Mossley ahead with a volley in the box but Tony Thompson had to make a quick save to prevent a Mossley lead.
Mossley keeper Fin Madigan made a fantastic double save as Ben Hodkinson cut in on his left foot and took a shot on goal which Madigan denied and Ste Edmondson attempted a follow up that was also denied by Madigan. Minutes later a corner was awarded to Bootle which Jay Roberts took and Matty Fenton met it with a bullet header to give Bootle the lead, fantastic headed goal. The first half would finish 1-0 to Bootle.
The second half didn’t have as much action as the first, although Mossley made a chance towards goal as Gee Baltazar made a cross into Oumar Camara who got his head to the ball but the effort went over the bar. Another chance came their way as Jack Grundy put a ball into Sean Kgwakgwa but the latters effort was out wide.
Very late in the game, Bootle got a second goal as Declan Daniels was played through on goal one on one and buried his effort into the far corner. Bootle got the result of winning 2-0 at home on the last day of the season but due to Lower Breck winning 3-1 away to Shifnal Town, The Bucks missed out on a play off place.
Thank you to all Bootle fans for your unmatched support home and away throughout the campaign and we will see you next sesson, Up The Bucks!
