Just over a minute from kick off, Vulcan took a very early lead to stun Bootle in the birthing stages of the game. Things went from bad to worse for Bootle as Vulcan doubled their lead nine minutes later, a very far from ideal start for The Bucks.

Just as Bootle looked to be getting back into the game, Tayla Castley buried her effort in the back of the net but only for her goal to be disallowed as the referee spotted a handball in the build up which left Bootle still trailing by two goals. Vulcan however, made it 3-0 as a shot into the far corner ensured their third goal with an even wide margin on the scoreline.

After seeing an improvement in Bootle’s performance since the start of the second half, they managed to pull a goal back and installed some hope within themselves for a start of a slight possible comeback. Bootle’s Abbi Fowler even went one on one with the Vulcan keeper to get a second goal for The Bucks but the keeper made a fantastic save to deny the scoreline from narrowing.

Despite efforts from Bootle to force a second goal, Vulcan got a fourth as a ball was played into Bootle’s area and a Vulcan forward’s first home effort flew past Izzy Cartwright to ensure a victory. It must be said nonetheless, the performance in the second half was huge from Bootle and if it wasn’t for some fantastic saves from Izzy Cartwright, it couldn’t been five or six for Vulcan.
