Bootle FC are delighted to announce the signing of Will Russ on a 28 day loan deal from Southport FC.

Russ started his career at Chesterfield FC before making the move to Leicester City FC in 2018/19, featuring for the U18 and the U23's up until the summer of 2022.

Russ then moved back up north to Fleetwood Town, where he enjoyed loan spells at FC United of Manchester, South Shields, Hyde United and Marine FC. Despite never breaking into the First Team at Fleetwood for league fixtures, he remained there for two years, going out on five loan moves.

Following the expiration of his contract, he joined National League North side Southport in 2023/24, working with Alan Morgan at the 'Port last season, Alan acting as Assistant Manager to Jim Bentley.

Making 22 appearances in the last two seasons for Southport, Russ comes in to Bootle with plenty of higher league experience, also featuring 6 times in the FA Youth Cup, 5 times in the EFL Trophy, 43 appearances in the U18 Premier League and 17 appearances in the PL2, scoring a total of 20 goals across all of the above.

Described as an active centre forward, Russ will bolster Alan Morgan's attacking options and is available for selection for this evening's trip to Vauxhall Motors.
