Goals from Tom Peterson and Jack McGowan secured Bootle a 2-0 against local rivals Marine, securing a double against the team from Crosby.

Bootle has the first chance when Declan McLoughlin’s effort flew over the bar.

Marine nearly drew first blood when multiple efforts from Owen Watkinson and Neil Kengni was well saved by Theo Roberts.

Another save by Theo Roberts, this time denying Neil Kengni’s firing effort. Minutes later, a Ben Hughes shot hit Alex Doyle on the way through to hitting the post.

Ben Clark’s freekick tested Theo Roberts, the Bootle keeper tipping it over.

The Bucks took the lead. Ben Hodkinson’s volley from the left found the head of Tom Peterson, who ran in to nod home from close range.

Bootle we’re down to 10 men after a strong challenge from Will Bell and the referee deemed it a red card challenge.

Bootle reacted well to the goal and Declan McLoughlin strike trouble Bayleigh Passant, who’s able to parry it out.

Right on half time, Marine nearly equalised. Kielan Adams strike forced forced Theo Roberts into a low stop.

Bootle and Tom Peterson started the second half very brightly. Peterson’s first effort was a low cross and well saved by the legs of Passant, then a lobbed effort was easily saved by the Mariners keeper.

Marine started to control the game and had plenty of chances to grab a goal. Ben Roberts whipped a great ball in and a Marine head was there to nod on goal, but a Theo Roberts was there to catch.

Another close call for Bootle as a scramble inside the box fell to Ben Roberts, and his shot was bravely saved by Theo Roberts.

Another long desperate ball into the box by Marine to try and salvage the game. Alex Doyle latches onto it and smashes wide.

In the dying embers, Ben Clark’s inswinging freekick was cleared of the line. Bootle break from that, Ben Hodkinson led the attack, running into the Bootle box, before squaring to Jack McGowan who fires home for Bootle’s second, which sent the Dodge Kop into pandemonium.
