After finally kicking off 2022 with a win on Saturday, Bootle travel to a revitalised Prescot Cables in another local Merseyside derby.

Bootle started their campaign in 2022 away at Ramsbottom United, where the Bucks battled back from 1-0 down at the break to run out 3-2 winners in Bury. It was a crucial win in Bootle’s chase for the Northern Premier League West play-offs and continues the Bucks four-game winning streak.

It’s been a rough old time for Prescot Cables, from losing key players, including club captain and Prescot player for ten years James McCulloch and Lloyd Dean, captain of the Cables second Senior Cup victory both to local rivals Widnes.
But Saturday showed a real brightness in the season as Cables comfortably beat relegation rivals Kidsgrove Athletic 3-0 and after an abundance of signings during the course of the week, Prescot have only boosted their squad and shows real determination to survive in the Northern Premier League West.

Over recent times, Bootle’s form against Prescot hasn’t been great, including some heavy defeats mostly in the Liverpool Senior Cup, but the most recent game played between the two sides the Bucks ran out 3-0 winners.

This should prove to be an entertaining local derby and two sides who have hit great form of late.
