It’s now been 18 days since Bootle last played a league game after two consecutive postponements, but the Bucks get a third chance to kick off 2022 away at Ramsbottom United.
Bootle played a friendly mid-week to gather some momentum back, defeating Skelmersdale United 4-1, but their last competitive game came on the 27th December last year as they beat league-leaders Marine 3-0, so this break was bound to slow the momentum down of the on-form Bucks.
Their opponents Ramsbottom haven’t played since New Years Day after their schedule game on Saturday 8th January vs Leek Town was postponed. The Rams first match of 2022 was a defeat to local-rivals Mossley, so they get a second bite of the cherry to grab a first win of the New Year with the visit of Bootle.
The Rams will be looking to avenge a 5-0 defeat Bootle inflicted on them earlier on this season, but Ramsbottom’s home form at the Harry Williams Riverside Stadium has been great this season, 6 wins out of 10, although the last time the two sides met before this season was nine and a half years ago, dating back to April 2012.
