Bootle have the chance to regain clarity after a disappointing opening weekend against Leek with their visit to Widnes in midweek.
Bootle couldn’t have got off to a worse start to the season, conceding four at home to Leek Town, with Josh Ryder, Rob Stevenson, Thomas Carr and Will Saxon putting the Bucks to the sword on the first game of the season.
Widnes also commenced their league campaign with defeat, losing out to Halton rivals Runcorn Linnets, but a sparkle of life being Dylan Glass almost revitalising Widnes, halving the deficit late on, before Jamie Rainford sealed Linnets win in injury time.
Widnes have the better of Bootle at home, with the Bucks not winning a game at the DCBL Stadium in their two meetings to Widnes. Last season brought three captivating games in both the league and the cup. Widnes ran out adequate winners in the first meeting, and at home. Following on, two meeting at the Berry Street Garage Stadiun following. A largely dramatic and breathtaking FA Trophy came first, with Widnes scoring with half an hour to play and looked to be progressing through for a tie against Stalybridge Celtic - however former Bucks player and current Widnes man Jordan Wynne netted deep into added time to send the game to penalties, in which Bootle triumphed. The most recent meeting was a 1-0 victory for Bootle with a goal by Connor Millington.
Let’s hope Bootle can turn their poor beginning into a win tonight. Up The Bucks!
