Bootle begin their second campaign in the Northern Premier League West Division by locking horns at home with last season’s play-off semi finalists Leek Town.
Since the season ended earlier than usual, it’s give time for the players to relax and get back into the swing of things with a pre-season campaign, but the Staffordshire-based outfit are the first to visit Vesty Road on the opening weekend, in what is going to be a long 38-game season.
It’s been a tricky pre-season for the ‘Bucks’, with a string of defeats and one win to go with it against last seasons Northern Premier League West Division champions Warrington Rylands, however performances have been satisfactory to the Bootle faithful with a fuss of new signing and players from last campaign seeming to materialise ahead of the beginning of the campaign.
The visitors to Vesty Road in Leek Town had a reasonable pre-season in terms of results, with wins against Nantwich Town, Uttoxeter Town and Leek CSOB, and defeats to Stoke City U23 and Congleton Town. But after an adequate season just gone ending on a sour note with defeat to Runcorn Linnets in the play-off semi-finals, they’ll be looking to turn this forthcoming season into a promotion-winning one.
In the head-to-head statistics, it’s Leek who come out on top, triumphing on both occasions against the Bucks last season, with a comprehensive 3-0 win at tommorow’s destination and a 3-1 win at Harrison Park in early April, with Bootle being arguably the better side throughout the 90 minutes the second time round.
The new season is back in full swing and we can’t wait! Details for the game…
