Bootle suffered their second defeat of their pre-season campaign against Wythenshawe Amateurs on Tuesday night.
Despite dominating large parts of the game, Joe Doran's side failed to find the back of the net for the second successive game, with Michael Bond's first-half strike enough to separate the two sides at the Berry Street Garage Stadium.
After being held to a frustrating 0-0 draw by Maghull on Saturday afternoon, the Bucks started with real purpose against their Greater Manchester counterparts, with Jack Goodwin, Ryan Cox and Chad Whyte all wasting clear-cut chances.
And mid-way through the first-half the Bucks were made to pay. A low-driven corner was allowed to run all the way through with Bond on hand to turn the ball from close-range.
The second 45 minutes was a much more open affair with both side having plenty of chances in an entertaining half.
Bootle's best fell the way of Connor Millington, but his effort was superbly blocked by the Wythenshawe goalkeeper, before new recruit Whyte headed against the post in the closing stages of the game.
