Solid performance from the Bucks today

We entered today’s game looking to put last weeks disappointing result behind us but carry the first 30 minutes of that game into this weeks.

It was going to be tough today today against a very good and strong Springwood team, the team talk though was more on last weeks game in that we had to keep the focus up and not get disheartened by any set backs and carry on with maximum concentration and work rate if so.

The game kicked off and we set the tempo early on by winning the midfield battle with
us looking to play Marlowe in at all teams who was getting a lot of joy on the left hand side. Connor was holding the ball up really well and linking with players around him, he was unlucky with a few of his through balls that just seemed to be cut out.
We had to be on our guard at all times with the danger that Springwood posed but Josh, the defenders and Wade, Ell Hay and Joel were alert at all times to snuff any danger out.
The deadlock was then broken after a great ball from Sean straight into Marlowe’s feet who turned and played the ball into Connor but it just ran away from him, Connor pressed and after winning the ball back slotted the ball home, 1-0 and well deserved.
It was now us on top and we quickly got another through a corner from Jack which was met by the head of Joe, he headed it down and gave the keeper no chance, 2-0.
We knew we couldn’t relax against a top team as Springwood then came at us, they then pulled a goal back from a corner which was put in at the back post after our defenders all looked at each other to take control. To be fair it was what they deserved after a period of being on top but we had to switch on more to see out the half time whistle.
HT 1-2
The second half was a right battle with both teams closing down well and hardly giving anything away, chances came for both teams via set pieces and counter attacks.
Springwood had a few really dangerous set pieces which we managed to be alert too and we were pressing high via Connor who made a great chance for himself only to see it blocked, then came Myers chance after a great ball by Joel but the keeper made a tremendous save in what seemed like a certain goal.
The rest of the half was much of the same in what ended with a midfield battle with both teams not giving much away.
The final whistle went and we ran out winners, well done lads.
FT 1-2

It was a tough game today but we deserved the win, credit to Springwood for playing their part in a great game between two good teams, we now need to keep this up.
It was great to see Thomas Myers back with the lads today and long may it continue, some good moments into today’s game for me but none better than when some of the lads whose turn it was to be sub sought to help the lads on the pitch, Matty running the line to help Josh, Jack and Wade being animated and roaring the lads on and Callum barking orders at the defence, he will make a great coach one day that lad, his knowledge of the game is outstanding for a 14 year old.

Goals Connor x 1 & Joe x 1
