Bootle are Magic, Pro Sport Academy are Tragic!

It’s Skembo Sunday again and the Buck’s were raring to go. Starting with a strong side the gaffer was looking to make a statement and make it three from three. Bootle got off to the flyer they wanted as Brayshaw passed it out from the back to Allinson who laid it off to Thomas who in turn dribbled it left, right and finally smashed the ball into the roof of the net. It was as if he was re-enacting Rooney’s famous goal for the Toffees against Arsenal in 2002. More fine football was to come as Freddo made light work of the opposition’s midfield and knocked a ball out wide to Wadey. Wadey then lifted the ball forward to Thomas who nailed a right foot shot in to the net. Total football from the boy’s and too much for the opponents to handle.

There was no let-up in the pace of the game as Allinson took the ball off the toes of the striker for Thomas to pick it up and slide the ball to Charlie who intern curled a ball through to Cody who just missed from wide out. What a move. It could have been a contender for goal of the season. We didn’t have to wait for the third and hat trick goal from Thomas. A crisp, low drive taken on the half volley. Time to ring the changes and on came Euan. There was no weakening as Darwin added some silky touches putting in an excellent performance. It was Euan’s introduction that set up the fourth for Thomas as he battled through the middle shrugging off his opponents like flies. More changes and on came Sweeney and Hudson to turn the screw. Will made an instant impact picking up free kicks in dangerous areas and driving from corner to corner. Sweeney found his shooting boots as he took snap shots at goal only to miss by inches on several occasions. Finally Sweeney’s breakthrough came as he picked up a sweet ball through the middle, taking one touch, swivelling and burying his shot past the keeper. 5 nil. No less than the Buck’s deserved.

Second half. Not much happened here really. Bootle dominated but couldn’t score. Thomas took a few shots that would have landed in the Connie branch of Heron foods if it weren’t for the netting and their goalie kept them in the game. Oh, and they scored a scrambled goal at the final whistle. 5:1 final score. Title dreams still very much alive!
