Match Preview: Bootle FC Women vs MSB Woolton Reserves

Bootle FC Women return to home action this Sunday as they welcome MSB Woolton Reserves to The Berry Street Garage Stadium for another important league fixture. The Bucks will be aiming to secure all three points after battling to a hard-earned draw at Vesty Road on Wednesday night.

Last time out, Bootle extended their unbeaten run to four matches with a 2-2 draw against Clay Brow. After a bright start and early pressure, Izzy Cartwright produced several key saves to keep the sides level before Amber Boussemart broke the deadlock early in the second half. Clay Brow responded quickly to turn the game around, but Bootle showed great character late on, with substitute Abbi Fowler reacting quickest to a rebound to earn a deserved equaliser and preserve their unbeaten home record.

Sunday’s opponents, MSB Woolton Reserves, have not been in action since early March, with their most recent scheduled fixture ending in a walkover. Prior to that, they suffered heavy defeats to Vauxhall Motors and University of Liverpool Women in cup competition. Their last victory came in mid-February against Bootle at Leisure United Simpson, where the Bucks endured a difficult afternoon despite a strong showing from Cartwright. Woolton built an early lead, but Bootle showed resilience in the second half, with Millie Davis grabbing a late consolation.

Bootle will be looking to build on their recent momentum and turn that resilience into a winning performance in front of their home support.
