Club History:

Founded in the summer of 2010, Lower Breck Football Club emerged from Liverpool’s Tuebrook area as a vibrant youth side with the ambition to compete for honours across future competitions

First Successes

* In their debut season (2010–11), they clinched the South Liverpool Youth Division Title

* The following year (2011–12), they upgraded to the West Cheshire League, winning the league, the Youth Plate, and the LCFA Under-18 County Cup — completing a remarkable treble and earning a Merseyside Team of the Year nomination

Transition to Adult Football

* Ahead of 2012–13, Lower Breck merged with Famous Grapes FC to form an open-age side. They joined the Liverpool County Premier League Division Two, and won the title at their first attempt

* They capped that season with a win in the Rheintal Trophy in Cologne during a European tour

Climbing the Local Ranks

* In 2013–14, operating officially as “Lower Breck FC,” they played in Division One and secured promotion to the Premier Division

* By 2015–16, the club had expanded to include five teams, spanning reserve, Sunday, and youth sides

* In 2016–17, they achieved a domestic cup double, winning both the George Mahon Cup and the I-Zingari Cup

* Even more impressive, the 2017–18 season saw them go unbeaten while winning all four competitions they entered, including the Liverpool County Premier Division title and multiple cups

Moving into the National Non-League System

* In 2018, Lower Breck joined the North West Counties League Division One North (Step 6), finishing 4th in their first full season

* After a disrupted couple of seasons due to COVID-19, they earned promotion to the NWCFL Premier Division(Step 5) in 2020–21

* The 2024–25 campaign was a standout: finishing as runners-up with 106 points, they secured promotion to the Northern Premier League (Step 4) via play-offs

* Lower Breck reached the Northern Premier League Division One West play offs but were defeated on penalties in the semi final away to Avro after leading 2-1 in the later stages of extra time until the eventual play offs winners equalised in the dying minutes of the game to take it to penalties.

The Manager: Gary Moore has been manager of Lower Breck since the club’s foundation in 2010. Gary Moore has been with Lower Breck since literally from the start and is adored by the Lower Breck faithful due to what he’s achieved with the club.

Key Player: Sam Burns managed to claim 27 goals and 10 assists in 37 appearances in the 2024/25 campaign for Lower Breck, proving to be a vital key to their promotion. Burns also picked up the Manager’s Player Of The Season award. His CV consists of Blackburn Rovers, FC United Of Manchester, Scunthorpe United, Panachaiki, Bootle, Bury and Warrington Rylands.

Match Preview:

On this bank holiday Monday we take the trip to Anfield to take on local rivals and last season’s play off semi finalists Lower Breck.

Following up from winning three games out of three in the league, Bootle faced Northwich Victoria away in the preliminary round of the Emirates FA Cup which ended in a 4-4 draw in what resulted in a replay the following Wednesday at the Marine Travel Arena, but unfortunately it resulted in a 1-0 defeat and meant Bootle exited the competition. On Saturday however, The Bucks travelled to Yorkshire to take on Liversedge in the FA Trophy and picked up a fantastic 5-0 victory with a goal from Anthony Miley and four goals from Ben Hodkinson, which was a fantastic way for Bootle to bounce back from the disappointment earlier in the week.

Lower Breck themselves have had quite a promising start to the 2026/27 season with only one loss on their record so far which was a 3-2 away defeat to Runcorn Linnets but have beaten Lichfield City and Clitheroe to gain six points in the league and still remain in the Emirates FA Cup after defeating Euxton Villa 3-2 in the preliminary round of the competition and most recently defeated North Ferriby in the first round of the FA Trophy. Lower Breck managed to reach the play offs last season but were defeated on penalties away to Avro after being 2-1 up in extra time and conceding in the dying minutes, but Lower Breck will look to go for an even stronger push this season after narrowly missing out on getting to the play off final last time round.
