A look back at recent encounters with tomorrow's visitors

Hanley Town took revenge on The Bucks by scoring 4 goals in their turf as the hosts of this particular game done previously to Hanley Town at Potteries Park. The visitors took the lead with 2 goals in just over 20 minutes of the first half with Joel Stair and Jacon Twyford putting their names on the scoresheet, giving Bootle early headaches.

The Bucks responded tremendously shortly after the second half whistle when a strike from Jack McGowan found the top corner making the game 2-1, giving the visitors some hope to claw back to level terms in the game. Sadly for Bootle, Hanley Town crushed any hopes of a comeback when Kyle Brake made the game 3-1 with a headed goal from a set piece, and later on in the closing stages of the game with a 4th Hanley goal coming by way of a Daniel Glover successful finish, leaving Bootle with a 5th consecutive defeat.

This particular victory was a big one for Hanley Town as this aided their cause to survival in the league. A goal came on the 25th minute mark for Hanley Town when Louis Dodds successfully buried his chance, sending his home fans into a burst of delight. Despite their chances and efforts, Bootle could not find their way into the game and had to accept trailing by a goal to nil walking into the tunnel at half time.

Life in this fixture couldn’t of got any better for the relegation battling hosts as Jake Twyford once again found the net against Bootle FC, boosting the belief of survival for the Hanley Town faithful. As the game went on, both sides had their chances respectively but the game would finish 2-0 after the referees final whistle in what was a huge result for Hanley Town in terms of living to fight another season in the league by the end of the campaign.

The visiting Bucks got off to a fast paced start to the first half and forward Jake Burton almost found the net with a shot that had a fair bit of power behind it, but the ball fell just wide of the Hanley goal. Ben Hodkinson received the ball in the host’s area and tried to convert his chance but the ball flew over the bar, the first half ended 0-0 with Bootle having more chances and possession.

After just minutes of the second half kicking off, Bootle took the lead as Hodkinson and Tom Peterson combined to put The Bucks 1-0 up. Hodkinson’s low cross into the box was met with a Peterson header leaving Hanley keeper Tommy Jackson with no chance. Bootle very quickly doubled their lead as new signing Moses Yoak headed in a rebounded Ben Hodkinson shot which hit the bar and found Yoak who headed the ball into an empty net. The game finished 2-0 in which was an impressive performance and win for Bootle.
