After the third attempt, Bootle earned their first victory at Seel Park, also confirming Mick McGraa maiden win in his tenure at the Bucks, with the visitors securing a 2-1 win in a very composed display.

Bootle were on the front foot right from the off and made their pressure pay as they struck first blood inside the opening 5 minutes.

A Mossley free-kick was dealt with by goalkeeper and one of two debutants, Tony Thompson, who sent the ball upfield to Owen Robinson, who failed in his attempt to round Mossley keeper Chris Thompson, but luckily the ball fell to Jake Burton, who made no mistake to tuck the ball in the corner.

Mason Fawns, returning to his former side, injected impetus into the wide areas for Bootle and he almost found himself putting the Bucks in front after striking, but a deflection on the way through averted the danger.

Oumar Kamara seemed to be Mossley’s biggest danger as he had multiple efforts to try and break through Tony Thompson’s abode, but on them occasions, the Bucks keeper stood firm and thwarted his efforts.

A lacklustre Mossley defence were punished dearly after they fumbled their lines with Bootle’s agressive press, and it presented the Bucks with another opportunity which fell to Jake Burton again, who slotted home to double the visitors lead.

HT: Mossley 0-2 Bootle

Both sides saw the game settle into a steady pace with neither goalkeeper greatly troubled in the opening stages of the second half.

The hosts shot-stopper became busy once again as Sam Burns warmed the gloves of Thompson before he denied Burns again, coming out bravely to smother a loose ball before the Bootle attacker could reach it.

Mossley caused Bootle some panic in the latter stages as they halved the deficit through Kamara’s header from a corner, but it proved too little too late as a huge three points returned to Vesty Road.

FT: Mossley 1-2 Bootle
